The Brave Little Dragon

Pip was a little dragon. Pip was the smallest dragon in the whole green valley. The big dragons puffed great clouds of fire. But Pip could only make a tiny spark.

A Small Wish

“What if my spark is too small?” said Pip. “What if I can never make a flame at all?” Pip felt sad. Pip sat by the pond and looked up at the moon.

The Moon Winks

The moon was big and round and kind. The moon gave a soft, silver wink. “Try,” said the wind in the trees. “Just try, little Pip. That is all you have to do.”

One Big Breath

So Pip shut both eyes tight. Pip took one big, brave breath. Pip puffed as hard as Pip could puff. Out came a warm little flame! It was small, but it was bright.

A Light in the Dark

The flame lit up the path. The flame lit up the trees. Now Pip could see the way back home. Pip was not scared of the dark. Not one bit. Pip gave a happy little roar and did a loop in the air.

Brave Is Trying

That night, Pip learned a happy thing. Brave is not about being big. Brave is not about a giant flame. Brave is just about trying. And Pip had tried. The End.
