On a bright, sunny day, John looked out from his rooftop. He loved the city. The rooftops were his playground. He could see his friend, Sam, on another roof. Sam waved, and John waved back. “Let’s play!” he called. John jumped from his roof to Sam’s.

They laughed and ran. They played tag and climbed high. But then, they heard a loud noise. It was the villain, Mr. Grump! He was sneaky and mean. He wanted to trap John and Sam.

“Quick! We must hide!” said John. They ducked behind a big chimney. Mr. Grump stomped by, looking for them. “Where are those kids?” he grumbled. John and Sam held their breath.

“I have a plan,” whispered John. “We can trick Mr. Grump!” Sam nodded. They would work together. John ran one way, and Sam went the other. Mr. Grump saw John and chased him.

“Catch me if you can!” shouted John, running fast. Mr. Grump ran after him. But then, Sam jumped out! “Surprise!” he yelled. Mr. Grump was confused.

“Now!” said John. They both ran and jumped together. They leapt over the edge of the roof and landed safely on a soft, bouncy trampoline below. Mr. Grump could not follow. “Teamwork wins!” cheered John. Sam smiled wide.

They were safe. They laughed and jumped on the trampoline. The city was bright, and the sun was shining. John and Sam looked at each other. “Let’s always be heroes!” said John. They high-fived and felt proud. The city was their playground, and they were ready for more adventures.
